I'm sure all of you remember the post from last week, Honestly. Well isn't it funny how some things happen in the order in which they do? Call it fate, call it coincidence, call him God, or whatever you think fits, but there's no denying that it's there. So after a crappy few days, I got some serious up-lifting.
I went to a show on Saturday morning. I took all my pictures and such like I normally do. It wasn't an all day thing, but it was fun none the less. A woman came up to me and said she'd read my blog, and she needed to give me a hug. With a knowing and caring look in her eye she said, "We've all been there."
On the way back from the show, I stopped at a friends house for a quick visit. We ate junk food and caught up, since we hadn't talked in about a day. =) The birthday party was winding down, so I left.
I then stopped by another birthday party. I got an invite from a friend who was attending a local store's first birthday. Blush. I stopped in, 2 year old in tow, and began visiting with the ladies I knew. Again, I was approached about my blog post and how it affected them. The "we've all been there" conversation soon followed.
The thing that happened next I was a little unprepared for. I think when I took my daughter to the potty, they all conspired to gang up on me. Before I could protest, clothing was being taken off the racks and I was told to find a babysitter because I was going out with the girls. Well, I found a babysitter (Sam I love ya!), and soon I was in the dressing room. What started it all? 1/2 price shoes.
I took interest in the sale rack (being the tight-wad that I usually am), especially the "girl shoes" sale rack. As soon as my sweaty, non-pedicure, wearing boots all day feet hit the shoes, there were comments of the "Girl Shoes" post, and how I HAD to get them. Well, you have to give your readers what they want, right? I was then informed that The Ranch Wife was now Cinderella.
This is what the munchkin was doing while Momma was in the dressing room....thanks to Sarah (the owner of the store) she's now clomping all through the house in her, "girl shoes momma".
Ok so they were fabulous, cute, sexy, and most of all girl shoes. The shirt, pants and sexy underwear that followed.....those were just accessories for the shoes! =) I was informed that I was to surprise my husband that was sitting with the other husbands at the local watering hole.
We snuck in the back, and took a quick bathroom mirror pic (it's a girl thing). Then we walked in, and shocked the Cowboy. I looked like a girl, and he wasn't too sure what to do about it. Don't worry, he figured it out. hahahaha
That's me on the left. =) I don't quite have my "sexy look" down though....
Here's fabulousness in shoe form....
Now, I'm not sure if I've ever told you this before or not, but I'm not much of a girl's girl. I don't have that many close girl friends. I hate screeching, giggling, moments of everyone jumping up and down for joy, fakeness, and most of all the bitchy back-stabbing that is so common among women. That being said, it took a whole group of women to say, "We've all been there" to help me along. It started with a hug, then conversations over junk food, then shoes, then a willing baby-sitter, then more clothes, then more conversations and silly dancing, then a barefoot walk back to the truck laughing about a silly Cowboy who's spurs we could hear all down main street. The love, compassion and power of a woman is amazing. The love, compassion and power of women throughout the course of one day is priceless.
Then I had the perfect end to a wonderful day and a crappy week. On my way home, I saw a woman on the side of the road. I thought she needed a ride. It was starting to snow. I was wrong, she needed a place to stay. I took her to a motel, told her to wait in the truck while I checked her in, and then unloaded her stuff. She expressed her thanks. I said, "We've all been there."
This is awesome Kacee -- and so true -- I'm glad you got to have your girls' night. :) Mamas deserve that!
